| May 28: Warriors Come up Short in Championship Game |
The Warriors season came to an end at Christian Field as Meyers defeated the freshman 7-4. The bats started out slow as the Mohawks jumped out to a 7-1 lead. In the top half of the 5th, momentum swung back to the Warriors as they scored three runs, the big hit coming on Bart Chupka's two run double cutting the lead to 7-4. In the 6th & 7th innings the Warriors had their chances with men on but could not get the big hit when needed. Erik Walkowiak started and pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out two. Mike Carey came in and pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits while striking out six. Offensively along with Chupka's double, Carey & Walkowiak added rbi singles. Jake Granteed, Nick O'Brien, Brian Mapes and Dylan Pegg all added hits. Defensively Granteed had a solid game turning 2 unassisted double plays. The Warriors finished their season at 11-5. |
| May 20: Freshmen advance in Playoffs with Victory over WVW, 4-2. |
Erik Walkowkiak pitched 7 innings of shut down baseball as the Warrior Freshmen beat Wyoming Valley West at Roosevelt Field in Swoyersville. Walkowiak was overpowering, consistently getting WVW to chase his high heater. Walkowiak held the Spartans scoreless for six innings, and worked out of a tricky jam in the 7th. The Warriors played fabulous defense throughout the game. Jake Granteed made some key plays at shortstop. Dylan Pegg, Nick O'Brien and Tyler Wrubel blanketed the outfield, chasing down numerous balls headed for the gaps. The defensive highlight of the game was when centerfielder Nick O'Brien threw out a WVW runner at the plate. With a runner on second base, a Spartan batter singled to center where the ball was cleanly fielded by O'Brien. Nick threw a laser to home and Joey Erzar made a fabulous play of fielding the ball on a short hop and tagged the runner out--bringing the Warrior fans to their feet.
Nick O'Brien had three hits for the Warriors. Warrior baserunning miscues killed off several early inning rallies. Jake Granteed hit the ball hard with a couple of hits. Mike Carey delivered a bases loaded hit that scored an insurance run late in the game. Clearly this team is playing its best baseball of the year. Keep it up guys! |
| May 13: Freshmen rally to beat Lake Lehman in final at bat! |
Mike Carey drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh with the scored tied 7-7 to edge the Knights 8-7. The Warriors led 7-4 in the top of the seventh before the Knights rallied with three runs to tie the game heading into the bottom of the inning. After the first out the rally started with back to back walks to Joe Erzar & Jake Granteed, followed by a single by Nick O'Brien to load the bases with one out. Carey was then walked to end the game. Carey started the game and pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits while giving up 5 walks. Nick O'Brien came in and did a great job in relief going 4 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits. With the bases loaded and tied 7-7, Erik Walkowiak came in and struck out the Knights final batter to put an end to the Knights rally. Great defensive plays were turned in by Jake Granteed to preserve the win. Offensively O'Brien had two hits and drove in a run, Carey had a single with 2 rbi's, Walkowiak doubled, Granteed had a rbi double and Dylan Pegg, Brian Mapes & Tyler Wrubel also chipped in with hits. Joe Erzar had 3 walks. The freshmen now wait to see who their next opponent will be. |
| Freshmen 10-Run Redeemer--Playoff push is on |
The freshman continued their push for the playoffs with a convincing victory over Holy Redeemer 15-2 and need one more win against Lake Lehman in their final game to go to the playoffs. Jake Granteed got the win pitching five innings while striking out 3. He was backed by some solid defense with some gems turned in by Erik Walkowiak and Nick O'Brien. Offensively O'Brien and Dylan Pegg each had three hits, while Bart Chupka & Walkowiak added rbi doubles. Mike Carey and Tyler Wruble also added rbi's as the Warriors improved to 9-4 on the season. The freshman play host to Lake Lehman on Thursday @ the Shoe. |
| Freshmen defeat Hanover to improve to 8-4 on season and keep playoff hopes alive........ |
The Warriors need to win their last 3 games of the season to be assured of one of the two playoff spots in the division and got a big win by beating the Hawkeyes with a 9-6 victory Friday @ the Shoe. The Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning behind rbi's from Erik Walkowiak, Brian Mapes & Tyler Wruble. The lead increased to 9-0 in the fourth inning as the Warriors offense got big hits with two outs. Nick O'Brien started and pitched a great game pitching 4 innings and allowing 4 hits while striking out eight to get the win. Mike Carey came in with the bases loaded in the fifth inning with the score 9-5 and one out and earned the save while giving up one hit, striking out three in 2 2/3 innings. Offensively Brian Mapes doubled and walked three times, Walkowiak, Wruble and Pegg each had two hits and scored runs. Jake Granteed had a defensive web jem at second base.

| Warriors Come Up Short to Undefeated Meyers, 8-5 |
The Freshman held a 3-2 lead going into the fourth inning but timely hits and a few mistakes defensively put the Mohawks up 6-3 heading to the bottom of the fifth. The Warriors battled back to 6-5 behind a rbi double by Erik Walkowiak and a rbi single off the bat of Brian Mapes but the Mohawks rallied back for two runs of their own in the top of the sixth. In the home half of the 6th & 7th innings the Warriors both times had runners on first and second but failed to get the timely hit they needed. Erik Walkowiak and Mike Carey combined to give up 7 hits while striking out 11 hitters. Dylan Pegg singled snd scored two runs while Tyler Wruble, Bart Chupka and Jake Granted chipped in with singles. |
| Apr 30: Warriors 10 run GAR 15-4 |
Mike Carey pitched a complete game going 5 innings allowing four hits while striking out six as the freshman rolled to a 15-4 victory in a game shortened to five innings because of the 10-run rule. Nick O'Brien led the offense hitting two triples and scoring four runs. Brian Mapes hit two singles, while Erik Walkowiak & Joe Erzar chipped in with rbi doubles. The ninth grade improves to 7-3 and play two home games Tuesday and Friday @ the Shoe.

| Apr 28: Saporito & Morrison lead Warriors offensive attack against Bear Creek |
Jared "Jayroll" Saporito and Andy Morrison each had three hits and drove in a combined seven runs as the freshman scored 23 runs @ the Bog to defeat Bear Creek 23-0.
Saporito hit a big three run homerun in the first inning and the Warriors never looked back. Jake Wysocki, Brad Truscavage & Chris Becker each had 2 hits, while Mike Cipriani and Eric Smith chipped in with hits. Winning pitcher Jake Granteed pitched 2 innings while striking out three. The freshman go to 7-3 and play at the Shoe Friday against GAR. |
| Apr 24: Warriors Ten Run Nanticoke |
| Erik Walkowiak pitched 4 solid innings striking out eight, allowing only 2 hits, and Mike Carey & Bart Chupka led the offense as the Warrior Freshman pounded out 14 hits notching their sixth win of the season defeating the Trojans 12-2 @ the Shoe. Carey was 3-4 driving in four runs, while Chupka went 2-4 with a double with 3 rbi's. Dylan Pegg had two singles, scored three runs, Walkowiak singled twice, Tyler Wruble had a single with 2 rbi's, & Jake Granteed, Nick O'Brien, Carmen Mauriello and Brian Mapes all had a hit. The Warrios improved to 5-3 and play Bear Creek and GAR this coming week. |
| Apr 22: Warrior Rally Comes Up Short vs. Lehman |
The 9th grade lost a close game 6-4 to the Knights in Sweet Valley. Leading 3-0 most of the way, the Warriors trailed by three going into the seventh inning. Dylan Pegg led off the inning with a walk, followed by a Mike Carey single putting runners on the corners with no outs. Bart Chupka remained hot lacing a rbi single to left making the score 6-4. After a walk that loaded the bases the Lehman pitcher was able to end the game with a ground out to second. Nick O'Brien pitched a great game allowing only 3 hits while striking out seven. He struck out the side in the first inning. Tyler Wruble had a nice running catch in right field. |
| Apr 20: Carey & Chupka lead 9th grade to 15-0 victory over Redeemer |
Mike Carey pitched a complete game going 4 innings allowing 4 hits while striking out 5 in a game shortened due to the 15 run rule. Bart Chupka had three hits, one a towering homerun to left center while also driving in three runs to lead the 13 hit attack of the Warriors. Mike Carey & Jake Granteed also added 2 hits with 2 rbi's. Joe Erzar had two hits, Brian Mapes, Andy Morrison, Mike Cipriani & Erik Walkowiak also had hits. The freshmen are now 4-2 and play Lake Lehman Thursday.

| Apr 19: Warriors suffer 2nd straight tough loss to Hanover 4-1 |
| Even though the Warriors outhit the Hawkeyes seven to six the scoreboard had us on the losing end. Hanover got the most out of their six hits with big hits in key areas of the game. Erik Walkowiak pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing 4 hits while striking out seven before giving way to Nick O'Brien & Tyler Wrubel. The Hawkeyes got three runs in the first inning, but after that Erik settled down and did not allow a run in the next three innings. The Warriors had their chance to score early in the first inning when Mike Carey singled, Erik Walkowiak walked, putting runners on first and second with one out, but the Hanover pitcher worked out of the jam getting a ground out and pop out. With the score still 3-0 in the fourth, Bart Chupka led off the top of the inning with a long double to left but was stranded there as the Hawkeye pitcher once again retired the next three batters. In the seventh inning the boys started a mini rally by Brian Mapes leading off with a single to right, scoring on Dylan Pegg's single. Once again the Hanover pitcher worked out of the jam with runners on ending the game 4-1. Both Mike Carey and Dylan Pegg led the Warriors with two hits apiece. Bart Chupka, Jake Granteed & Brian Mapes all had hits for the Warriors who are now 3-2 on the season. |
| April 13: Freshmen Roar to 11-0 victory vs. GAR |
The freshmen baseball team improved to 3-0 on the year with a 11-0 win over GAR. Erik Walkowiak pitched 4 &2/3 innings allowing 2 hits while striking out eleven. This is the third straight offensive showing for the Warriors frosh as they banged out 11 hits. Erik Walkowiak & Bart Chupka went a combined five for seven driving in five runs leading the offense. Tyler Wrubel, Jake Granteed, Zack Mulhern & Carmen Mauriello each had a hit. Nick O'Brien, Mike Carey & Walkowiak each scored 2 runs. Jake Granteed came into pitch with the bases loaded in the fifth and got the last out on a strikeout. Joe Erzar and Mike Cipriani also scored runs in the victory. |

Jake Granteed and Tyler Wrubel combined on a 3- hitter with 10 strikeouts leading the Warriors to their second straight win. Bart Chupka singled and doubled, Erik Walkowiak tripled, Bradley Trusavage, Eric Smith & Jake Wysocki added singles as the Warriors banged out 11 hits. |

Mike Carey & Erik Walkowiak combined on a 6 hitter while striking out 11 batters as they defeated Nanticoke 14-7. Brian Mapes and Erik Walkowiak each had two hits, while Nick O'Brien and Tyler Wruble both doubled. Mike Carey, Dylan Pegg & Bart Chupka all singled driving in runs. |
